Celeste, the jaguar rescued in July 2022 at just a few months old after being found alone on a farm without her mother, was nominated for the Wildlife Unique Personality Awards granted by @worldanimalprotection.

Celeste is now a year and a half old, and up until a few months ago, she loved sleeping all day. She wouldn’t come down to eat in the afternoons, and in the mornings, she would always be resting on her platforms. One day, we decided to place camera traps to see what she was doing at night and early in the morning, when we couldn’t observe her.

With the cameras, we discovered that Celeste, like a true jaguar, loves water—but more than that, she loves diving in her pool, playing with wooden logs, and anything else she finds. Because of this unique behavior, we nominated her for this award, and after several months, she was selected as the global winner!

The prize includes a $10,000 donation to support the rescue work of our Rescue Center and Las Pumas Sanctuary, and all the animals we care for. This donation will be invested in creating educational materials, improving infrastructure, and purchasing supplies and equipment for the Rescue Center.

We thank everyone who voted for Celeste!
