In May 2022, Corobicí the puma was rescued while wandering extremely thin and disoriented along Route 1, near the Upala intersection. Upon arriving at our Rescue Center, he was examined by Dr. Martha Cordero. Several tests were conducted, including an MRI; however, the cause of his condition could not be determined.

After many months of observation, monitoring, and medical evaluation, it was concluded that Corobicí could not be released, despite regaining his weight. He shows a clear neurological deficit, mainly affecting his motor skills, which makes his movements uncoordinated and unstable, in addition to his unusual behavior.

Last year, a campaign was launched to raise funds to build him a larger enclosure in the Sanctuary, and thanks to the support of many individuals, companies, and organizations who believed in giving him a second chance, we successfully raised $35,000.

At the beginning of this year, Corobicí was moved to his new 288m² enclosure, with a height of 6 meters. We are in the process of restoring the space, which now includes platforms, perches, logs, and hiding spots. Corobicí has been slowly exploring his new home and has shown signs of being calm and content.

We are deeply grateful to everyone who supported Coro and who believes in our mission to give rescued animals a second chance—and for those who cannot return to the wild, to provide the best possible quality of life!
