Corobicí, the rescued puma, Moves into his new enclosure!
Last year, a campaign was launched to raise funds to build him a larger enclosure in the Sanctuary, and thanks to the support of many individuals, companies, and organizations who believed in giving him a second chance, we successfully raised $35,000.

Ocelot Cub Returns to it's Habitat!
In May of last year, a young ocelot (Leopardus pardalis), approximately 2 months old, was rescued from a farm after part of its tail had been cut. Upon arrival at the Rescue Center, Dr. Cordero, our veterinarian, provided immediate care, and together with staff from the Huetar Norte Conservation Area (ACAHN) and farm workers, an attempt was made to return the cub to the site where it was found.

What Happens in the Pre-Release Area at Las Pumas?
The pre-release area is part of our Rescue Center, which is completely closed to the public. It is the most isolated area, where the final stage of rehabilitation takes place for animals that, after being raised or treated in quarantine, are soon to return to their natural habitat.

Our Sanctuary, an open-air classroom For over 20 years in the country, dedicated to the conservation of wildlife!
Las Pumas Sanctuary, located in Cañas, Guanacaste since 2003, launched an Environmental Education Program aimed at supporting the conservation of Costa Rica’s wildlife.
This program seeks to raise awareness among intergenerational Costa Rican and international audiences about the country's wildlife, the threats it faces, and the actions we can take to protect it, through participatory techniques.
